The wooden balls are the perfect size for my 14-month-old to grab and whack, and the hammer handle actually fits her little fist instead of slipping out. I've noticed her aim getting better after just a couple weeks of play.
My 9-month-old figured out the hammer in about two minutes and now she's obsessed with whacking the balls through the holes. The handle is chunky enough for her tiny grip, so she doesn't get frustrated like she did with other toys. Honestly the thunk sound is weirdly satisfying too.
